COMMONWEALTH GAMES 2022

The spectacular opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham kicked off one of the world's greatest sporting events. 🌏 Governor General Dame Cindy has travelled over to the UK to support Team NZ! As NZ Society UK we are especially proud of our UK New Zealander of the Year 2022 Corey Baker who was the choreographer of the stunning Opening Ceremony.
It is New Zealand's 22nd appearance at the Commonwealth Games, having competed at every Games since their inception in 1930. Tom Walsh and Joelle King served as the country's flagbearers during the opening ceremony. With 233 athletes in 19 disciplines, Team NZ is well represented.
For those travelling to Birmingham to support Team NZ, make sure to stop by New Zealand House Birmingham. The New Zealand Team will be taking over Edgbaston Golf Club for the duration of the Games – including the Club’s bar, café, terrace, meeting rooms and facilities – creating our Birmingham 2022 New Zealand House.
Within New Zealand House, live feeds of Sky NZ’s six channels of Kiwi coverage will be available across multiple viewing zones. This includes a large outdoor marquee with LED screen, which will also be the location of our medal celebrations and main events.
With 1000’s of Kiwis in the UK, and travelling friends and whānau, this will be the ultimate “clubhouse” for all New Zealand Team supporters. We’d love to have you join us.
New Zealand House will also be the base for our New Zealand Team Shop and New Zealand Olympic Travel – available for ticketing or accommodation queries or services.
